The return of familiar faces and some new ones are part of the 2021 Iowa Heartland SCTE Board of Directors. There were six Board terms open for 2021. After a call for nominations this fall, a total of 6 persons were nominated. Since the number of nominations was the same as the number of openings, an official election was not needed. The current Board approved the new positions at their meeting on November 24, 2020. Returning for another two-year term on the Board are Josh Robinson with USA Communications, the Chapter treasurer; Eric Lage with Reinbeck Telecommunications Utility, the Chapter secretary; and both Dishon Clark and David Riley with Mediacom. The new members of the Board for 2021 will be Brenda Stottler with Technetix and Kirk Hauskins with ImOn Communications. Both Stotler and Hauskins have served as associate board members in 2020. Thank you to our new Board members for their leadership and support for the Iowa Heartland Chapter!
The Iowa Heartland Chapter of the SCTE is seeking candidates to serve on the Chapter Board of Directors beginning January 1, 2021.
There are SIX (6) openings on the Board, each for a two-year term ending 12/31/22. This is a great opportunity to participate in the leadership of the Iowa Heartland Chapter and network with other telecommunications professionals! Nominations will be accepted until November 6, 2020 at 5pm. If more nominations are received than there are openings (6), an election will be held. If the election is held, an electronic ballot will be emailed to SCTE members and voting will remain open until 5pm on November 30, 2020. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in serving, please email Curtis Dean, Chapter secretary, ASAP so your/their name can be placed on the ballot. The Iowa Heartland Chapter has scheduled another informational training for members on September 30, 2020. This online OTDR Training will be led by Jeff Harmon with Viavi Solutions and is a great way to brush up on your skills using an OTDR as part of your role as a technician.
COVID-19 continues to severely limit in-person training sessions. Fortunately, SCTE chapters from across the nation are stepping up to the plate to provide continuing professional development opportunities in a virtual session! Below is a list of virtual trainings being offered by other chapters. These trainings are all FREE, and the Iowa Heartland Chapter receives credit for our members who participate. Hopefully you can take time to check these trainings out and keep making yourself more excellent! 9/1/2020
