1/21/2022

The Iowa Chapter Board has established a great training schedule for 2022 and we'd love to have everyone mark their calendars!
Here's the lineup for now, with the possibility of other trainings and events be added as the year progresses:

Febraury 24, 2022 - Safety Trainings
April 6, 2022 - The Evolution of IPTV
July 13, 2022 - Customer Premise WiFi
November 9 & 10 - CBRS

Go to our Events and Training page for all the details. Registration is already posted for the Februrary 24th training and other will be posted as details are finalized.
Because of continuing guidance from national SCTE, the first three trainings will all be held online using Zoom. We are hoping to be able to return to in-person training for the CBRS training in November, and to be able to hold a Vendor Day as well. Stay tuned for more details!

Wi-Fi 7 hardware demos herald next-gen wireless networking

Wi-Fi 6E products only started arriving in the US last year, but the tech world is always looking toward what's next. Wi-Fi 7 represents the next generation of the wireless network protocol, and today marks the first time someone has claimed to make the technology work.
Wi-Fi 7 isn't available yet, since the Wi-Fi Alliance is still creating the standard. Also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, Wi-Fi 7 is expected to provide a max throughput of "at least 30GBps," according to the Wi-FI Alliance, which is quite a bump from Wi-Fi 6's 9.6GBps claim and an even bigger jump from WiFi 5's 3.5GBps. Keep in mind, however, that all three speeds are theoretical. Don't expect to hit these numbers while surfing the web at home.

When Verizon turns up 5G mobile service in the C-band later this month, the company also will be offering 5G fixed wireless service in the C-band. In an interview with Telecompetitor, Verizon Business Chief Revenue Officer Sampath Sowmyanarayan said the company will cite a speed of 100 Mbps.
According to a Verizon website, prices will be as low as $25 a month when bundled with mobile service, a potentially disruptive price point in the face of cable broadband competition.
The company said previously that it will make 5G C-band mobile service available to 100 million people at the initial launch and according to Sowmyanarayan, C-band 5G fixed wireless service also will be available to 100 million people, as well as to two million businesses.
