SCTE Region 5, of which the Iowa Heartland Chapter is a part of, was named "Region of the Year" at the 2012 Leadership Conference in Henderson, Nevada.

Voting for the Region of the Year award was done differently this year.  Each region was given three minutes to explain the accomplishments of the chapters in their region during the previous year, and then their peers voted on which region should win the award.

In addition to the Iowa Heartland Chapter, Region 5 also consists of the Five Rivers, Gateway, Greater Chicago, Great Plains, Heart of America, Show Me, and the High Plains chapters.

Dave Fyffe, SCTE Iowa Heartland Chapter board member, presented information about SCTE membership and training opportunities during a session at the Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities (IAMU) Telecommunications Conference in Des Moines on Thursday, April 12th.

Fyffe, who is also Chair of the IAMU Telecom Committee, spoke to about 15 technicians from some of Iowa's 28 municipal broadband providers to promote SCTE membership and inform members of the in-person and online training sessions offered through the SCTE.
